Recovery
In the wonderful book Seeking the Sacred, Stephanie Dowrick quotes a mother of two adult sons as saying, "what is recovery but moving away from adherence to constricting, life-denying ideas and toward a sense of personal worth and the freedom to choose one's own ways of seeing?"
If we have a belief in sin and separation, we might look outside ourselves for comfort, approval and joy. But the truth is that anything outside ourselves is just a momentary fix.
The eleventh step of AA is: “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”
As we heal our relationship with our Higher Power (God, Spirit, the Universe), we return to the experience of wholeness. Knowing that God is a power, not a personality, that resides within us as well as everyone else, we allow ourselves to move forward in joy.
We are here to support you on your path.
